TMC Asserts Commitment to INDIA Alliance Amid Speculations of Rift

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Derek O’Brien and Sagarika Ghose made a resounding statement of solidarity with the INDIA bloc at the ‘Loktantra Bachao Rally’ held at Ramleela Maidan in Delhi. Amid swirling speculations of a rift due to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s unilateral declaration of Lok Sabha candidates, TMC leaders reiterated their unwavering support for the opposition coalition.

Addressing the gathering, TMC MP Derek O’Brien lambasted the central government, framing the political landscape as a battle between “BJP versus democracy.” He emphasized that TMC remains an integral part of the INDIA alliance, staunchly opposing the BJP’s policies and governance approach.

Echoing similar sentiments, TMC MP Sagarika Ghose reiterated the party’s alignment with the INDIA alliance and extended support to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She underlined TMC’s commitment to the larger opposition framework while highlighting Mamata Banerjee’s pivotal role in initiating and endorsing the INDIA alliance.

Further clarifying TMC’s stance, leader Kunal Ghosh emphasized Mamata Banerjee’s instrumental role in conceptualizing the INDIA alliance and dismissed speculations of discord. He asserted that while TMC maintains national-level collaboration with the opposition, the party’s decision to contest all 40 seats in West Bengal against BJP, Congress, and CPM stems from strategic considerations and perceived political dynamics within the state.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, known for her bold rhetoric, challenged the BJP’s ambitious electoral targets, daring them to surpass the 200-seat mark before aiming for 400-plus seats. Her spirited challenge underscored TMC’s confidence in its stronghold of West Bengal while signaling a proactive stance against BJP’s electoral aspirations.

The rallying cry at the ‘Loktantra Bachao Rally’ not only reaffirmed TMC’s allegiance to the opposition coalition but also showcased Mamata Banerjee’s assertive leadership style, setting the stage for an intense political battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
